Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and The Music of Led Zeppelin

Hubby and I were treated to a very nice evening out last night. One of our sons gave us tickets to go see the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra playing with a group called 'the Music of Led Zeppelin'. We drove there in hubby's rebuilt oldy but goody Chevy Camaro, which made the whole evening seem complete as it brought back memories of the days when we were dating.

I have to say this outing was a great idea, I don't think I'd ever have gotten him to go see a symphony orchestra for a normal concert, Led Zeppelin music was just the thing.

We didn't really know what to expect though, we both had in mind that it would be some sort of 'elevator music' version of Led Zeppelin--and were wondering how on earth Zeppelin music could be done without Robert Plant-- the thoughts we had leading up to concert time were a little 'scared' of this. But-- when the lights began to dim out came Randy Jackson of a band called Zebra, singing Immigrant Song-- with some acceptably good vocals. Well that jump start to the concert made us much more intrigued about how the rest of the show would go.

It was just really great. There were Zeppelin fans there of all ages--from about 7 yrs old to teens to 'old folk' like us--and even older. The music was very good! We enjoyed it a great deal.

I think I most enjoyed an audience participation round of Black Dog. Hubby favored Moby Dick most I think. What fun to go back in time for an evening!

Everything was great! Guitar, bass, drums, electric violin, and incredibly the vocals were pretty darn good--though of course there is only one Robert Plant-- this was a good solid effort. Truly a memorable evening for us oldies but goodies. :)
